Sometimes people who have gotten life sentences are able to be proven innocent afterwards and be released at a later date, it being unfortunate they had to spend time in prison at least they got to enjoy whatever time they have left in freedom in society if proven innocent. Meanwhile with the death penalty there is no such going back if proven innocent as there is a percentage of people convicted wrongfully. I do firmly believe people who do horrible crimes deserve to die however the risk for innocents being proven guilty wrongly and the idea of how "absolute" the death penalty is makes it a big no for me.
